๐ฏ Eight steps. Stop at any red line.
- ๐ฅ Download the bundle from the Drive link
- ๐ฆ Unpack it
- ๐๏ธ Save the Play Live session in UAD Console
- โ๏ธ Run the installer
- ๐ Register the Play Live session
- ๐ Read the probe table
- ๐ฅ๏ธ Set three System Settings
- โ
Confirm Online, text Greg the sha
Before you start
๐ The bundle carries the room's signing secret. It is a private Drive link shared to one person. Never forward it, never put it in Slack, never leave it on a USB stick. Delete the download after step 4.
๐ง Do this when the room is empty. Step 3 changes what comes out of the speakers.
Step 1 ยท Get the bundle onto the room Mac
๐ฅ Download rr-room-bundle-v1.3.tgz from the Drive link in Greg's email
- On the room Mac, sign in to Google Drive as elijah@therecording.club. The file is shared to that account only.
- Open the link in Greg's email and download it.
- If Drive says "You need access", click the avatar top right and switch to
elijah@therecording.club, then reload. Do not click Request access.
- It lands in
~/Downloads. Leave it there, step 2 reads it from that path.
PASS โ
the file is in ~/Downloads on the room Mac
Step 2 ยท Unpack
๐ฆ One command in Terminal
tar xzf ~/Downloads/rr-room-bundle-v1.3.tgz -C ~/
PASS โ
~/rr-room-bundle/install.sh exists
Step 3 ยท Build the Play Live session in Console
๐๏ธ Save the Rehearse-mode version of the room
- Open UAD Console and load the session RehearsalRoom2026.
- Unmute the channels the band should hear live through the speakers. Write the channel names on the sha line you text Greg.
- Unmuting is what "Play Live" means: those channels are muted in the DAW session so the DAW does not double the signal.
- ๐ต๏ธ Two written sources disagree about which channels, and the rack was re-patched in September. Neither list below is an instruction. Check the room, then decide:
- Candidate A, the June 1 session file: Korg Mini (ch 9/10), Korg Grand (ch 11/12), Nord (ch 13/14), Bass DI (ch 15/16). No vocal mic.
- Candidate B, the docs site (rooms.json, "Rehearse mode"): the Korg Grandstage pair and a vocal mic.
- Save As โ name it exactly
RehearsalRoom2026_NODAW.
PASS โ
both sessions are in Console's session list
Step 4 ยท Install the agent
โ๏ธ One command, then read what it prints
bash ~/rr-room-bundle/install.sh
- It copies the package to
~/trc-room, loads the LaunchAgent, checks the door, then runs the probe.
- ๐ It stops at step 0 if the Xcode Command Line Tools are missing, because the agent needs
python3. If it prints that, run this, then run the installer again:
xcode-select --install
That command pops a macOS dialog and asks for a password. Try the Client account's password first, the one that unlocks the room Mac. If it is refused, the Mac wants an admin's password: stop and text Greg.
- Add
--dry-run first if you want to see every action without writing anything.
- Log rotation is optional and needs one admin password. The installer prints that command; running it is fine to skip.
PASS โ
the door line reads PASS
- ๐งน Now delete the download.
install.sh has already copied everything it needs to ~/trc-room.
rm ~/Downloads/rr-room-bundle-v1.3.tgz
Step 5 ยท Register the Play Live session
๐ Hand the file's fingerprint to the system
bash ~/trc-room/add-live-preset.sh
- It finds
RehearsalRoom2026_NODAW.uadmix in the Console sessions folder on its own.
- Not found? Pass the full path:
bash ~/trc-room/add-live-preset.sh /full/path/to/RehearsalRoom2026_NODAW.uadmix
- It prints a 64-character sha in a box. Keep that line for step 8.
- It then re-checks the winning load verb against the Play Live session. The installer's probe in step 4 only ever sees the DAW session, because Play Live does not exist yet when it runs.
PASS โ
a sha printed in a box
Step 6 ยท Read the probe table
๐ Which command actually loads a session on this Mac
- The probe tries each method three times per session and times it.
- The first method with three passes wins and is written into
~/trc-room/env.
- To run it again on its own:
bash ~/trc-room/probe.sh
| Line | Means | Do |
| PASS | three of three loaded | nothing, carry on |
| FLAKY | one or two of three | carry on, tell Greg which method |
| fail | none loaded | see the fallback at the bottom |
PASS โ
the line under the table reads PASS load verb <name>
Step 7 ยท Three settings, by hand
๐ฅ๏ธ So a power cut fixes itself
- Auto-login: System Settings โ Users & Groups โ Automatically log in as Client.
- Login Items: System Settings โ General โ Login Items โ add UAD Console.
- Energy: turn on Prevent automatic sleeping when the display is off, and Wake for network access.
- If Automatically log in as is greyed out, FileVault is on. Text Greg.
PASS โ
all three set
Step 8 ยท Confirm and report
โ
The room reads Online in the admin portal
- Open https://admin.therecording.club/admin/room-devices.
- Rehearsal Room should show Online within two minutes, with the Console version and the load verb.
- Text Greg: the sha from step 5, the channel names you unmuted in step 3, the winning verb, and its seconds.
PASS โ
Online, and Greg has the sha
If the probe fails everything
๐จ
Only when every verb reads fail.
- Edit
~/trc-room/env and set LOAD_GUI_OK=1.
- System Settings โ Privacy & Security โ Accessibility โ add
/bin/bash.
- Run
bash ~/trc-room/probe.sh again.
- Still all fail: stop here, send Greg the whole table. Do not keep trying.
